The BEAST OF REVELATION Revealed
And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. Reve:13:1-3

The prophet Daniel saw nearly the same vision John received, but Daniel was given a more specific interpretation.

Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea. And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another. The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it. And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and [it had] three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh. After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it. After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it [was] diverse from all the beasts that [were] before it; and it had ten horns. I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn [were] eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things. Dani:7:2-8

The Interpretation

This paper will not seek to argue the interpretation of the four beasts of Daniel, but will accept the common scholarly interpretation that the four beasts represent these four kingdoms.

Lion: Babylon
Bear: Medo-Persia
Leopard: Grecia
Beast w/Iron Teeth: Rome

Interpretation of the Seven-Headed Beast of Revelation

So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. Reve:17:3-5

And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition. And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.Reve:17:9-13

Several Interpretations stray from Daniel at this point. They all seek to interpret a different set of seven kings. I ask why? How many heads are there of the four beasts in Daniel? There are seven, the heads from the lion, the the bear, the four-headed leopard and the terrible beast. These seven heads on this beast represent 7 kings. What one may not immediately notice is that the leopard from Daniel's vision had four heads, because Grecia was split up into four separate kingdoms, each one having a different king.

Who are the Seven Kings?

There are 5 Fallen, One which is, and another which shall come. Understand this however, we may infer from Revelation itself that Babylon will exist in the latter days before Christ's second coming, and therefore it is easy to deduce that the King which will come is the King of Babylon. We conclude therefore that the Kings of Persia, and the Four Kings of Grecia are fallen, these are five altogether. And the King of Rome is. The King which is not yet come therefore is the head with the deadly wound, which was, is not, and which shall come.

Now the ten horns upon the beast will receive power at the last hour, and these will give their authority to the beast. And we read in Revelation Chapter 13 that he was given power for 42 months to blaspheme God and to persecute the Saints. This tribulation will be at the end of the world preceding our Lord's second coming.

And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Reve:13:5-8

Who is the identity of the Beast?

The book of Daniel tells us something more of this beast. He is called the little horn which arises out of the fourth kingdom. It is clear that he is the same king as the beast with the deadly wound for he is given power to persecute the saints of God for the same declared time: time and times and the dividing of time, that is 3 1/2 years (which is 42 months).

(Satan has many Christians preaching a secret second coming, and a worldly tribulation. God help these men to see the truth. The tribulation is upon the saints, and will be before Christ returns.)

Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. And the ten horns out of this kingdom [are] ten kings [that] shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. And he shall speak [great] words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. Daniel 7:23-25

This little horn is the King which arises up both after Rome, and out of Rome. Revelation describes him as being one of the seven kings, which has been identified as the King of Babylon.

To put it plainly: The King of Babylon arises out from Rome

I do not need to say the identity of this man, for I know many will accuse me of false preaching if I do, so I will let the scripture convict the understanding of men concerning this "king".

The Woman Riding the Beast

And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. Reve:17:9

And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. Reve:17:15

And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.Reve:17:18

Is it not written:
Levi:20:16: And if a woman approach unto any beast, and lie down thereto, thou shalt kill the woman, and the beast: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

This woman is even guilty of fornication with a beast.

Who is the Woman?

The woman is a Great City sitting upon seven mountains. The eternal seven-hilled city of Rome, has a strange woman riding up its back, even a city wherein are found all precious things even purple and scarlet. And she at the same time is described as sitting upon many waters, which are peoples, multitudes, nations and tonges. Why? Because all "the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.

Hath not God forewarned His saints of her?
